By now many know the story of John 5 and the Paralytic that was laid there for 38 years. Jesus came and asked him, "Do you want to be made well?" Indicating first, that someone other than the man had to "make" him well. Also, this indicated that the man must have a desire. Bethesda was also where Jesus gave the command, "Rise, take up your bed and walk!" The bed must be picked up, so there would be no temptation to go back, and so no-one else would fall into its trap.
The Bethesda House is a new ministry that The River is sponsoring this year. We are going to house women in recovery. It is a place where they answer the question, "Do you want to be made well?" Also, it is the place where they take up their bed and stand on their own two feet. The power of addiction will be broken, and the pain that led to the addiction will be healed. I pray that everyone will lend their heart and their resources to this amazing opportunity for ministry.
Contact us at The River and let us know your desire to help!
Kathy and I are truly excited about what God is doing during this time of Fasting Forward. If you are like me, you can smell all the food that you would normally eat when its cooking up to a mile away. However, God has helped us get past the part concerning food and get into the part concerning Him.
A few nights ago, the Lord led us to read Ex. 14:13-14 where the bible says, "Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord which He will show you today." Verse 15 says, "The Lord will fight for you and you will hold your peace." It was right after those words that the Lord caused the waters of the Red Sea to part and allowed them to cross over. But that was just the fulfillment of verse 14. Verse 15 was fulfilled when they looked back from the other side of the sea and saw Pharoah's army drowned by the same water that God had parted for them.
I speak to you the word of the Lord today. God is making a way for you, stand still and see. The same passage He makes for you, He will use to ambush your enemies in your life. Be at peace, God is fighting for you!
The New Year is upon us. 2010 is our year to Win! We are beginning in January with, "God's Vision For Your Life". We believe that God has a powerful plan and a prosperous purpose for us all. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has plans for our future.
Join us on Sundays in January and let's get our Vision tested together.
